I am a maternity care professional interested in a workshop. How do I know if the workshop is right for me?

Thanks for considering a workshop! You are welcome to register for workshops if you are a maternity care professional with a touch scope of practice - doula, physical therapist, midwife, nurse or physician. While workshops are designed for practicing massage therapists and bodyworkers, other maternity care professionals enjoy learning the same skills and knowledge to apply more skillful, evidence-based prenatal, labor/birth and/or postpartum hands-on care in their work. Skilled touch is within many maternity care professionals' scope of practice, and how you apply them in your professional work will vary depending on your scope of practice.

All participants prepare for workshops in the same way with required textbook, anatomy review and supplies as outlined in the FAQ "What are the workshop preparations?"

I am a breastfeeding person interested in a workshop. What can I expect?

I love breastfeeding people in workshops, and honor your and your infant's needs while you step away from home and into a workshop! There will be a private space for you to feed and/or pump during the workshop if you wish. If your infant is breastfeeding, please arrange to have a family member and/or friend bring your infant to the workshop location during morning and afternoon breaks, during lunch, and right before and after the workshop as needed. Please refer to your workshop schedule knowing that lunch and break times will vary day to day, and we will make it work!

After taking a workshop, what CE credits do I receive and what credentials can I use?

To receive continuing education (CE) credit, you must meet all the requirements including attendance of all workshop hours and participation in all classroom activities, including hands-on practice sessions. Approval CE agencies do not allow issuing any form of attendance or other alternative documentation until you meet these requirements. If you do not meet these requirements during the workshop, makeup activities may be assigned at the instructor’s discretion.

After completing the Pre- & Perinatal Massage Therapy 32-hour workshop (or a shorter length workshop), you may ethically represent yourself as a “pre- and perinatal massage therapist" (or if not a massage therapist "trained in pre- and perinatal massage"). After completing the Pre- & Perinatal Massage Therapy 32-hour workshop, you are also eligible to pursue "certification" that verifies your knowledge and skills. For individual certification, purchase the Certification Module, to be completed within one year after purchase. Upon successful completion of the Certification Module, you will receive your certification as a “certified pre- and perinatal massage therapist” issued by Body Therapy Education.
